The National Government will continue supporting farmers as it plans to ensure the country is food sufficient.
The Livestock production Ps Harry Kimtai who spoke in Kitale during the launch of County value chain platform for stakeholders under NARIGP Programme, said 21 counties will benefit from 219 million dollars from World Bank under the progam that seeks to bring ideas for improved dairy sector in the country through the value chain platform.
The PS assured dairy farmers that the national government will partner closely
with county governments to ensure they promote Dairy farming. He said the high cost of animals feeds will be worked on across the 21 counties to allow farmers generate good income.
The Trans Nzoia County Executive Committee Member in charge of Agriculture Mary Nzomo, challenged farmers to increase investment in dairy farming by investing in excellent genetics, proper feeding and proper disease and pest control methods.
She said the current policy will enable farmer’s access international markets that will skyrocket their profits. Mrs Nzomo further said her docket is reviving all Co-operatives Societies in the county to enable farmers produce quality milk.The programme also aims at improving the living condition of farmers through increased production of dairy products
