The Milimani Employment and Labour Relations Court has reinstated the Nandi accountant officer who was sacked following the allegation on mismanagement of public funds.
The court has directed that Valentine Chemeli to remains in office until the matter is heard and determined. The case will be heard in May 13, 2018.
Valentine Chemeli had petitioned the Nandi County in ELC challenging the procedure that was used to kick her out of office.
Her lawyer Katunga Mbuvi told the court that the petitioner had been forced to account for alleged misappropriation touching on a Bursary Report for April 2018 stating that at this period of April to June 2018 the accounting officer was Stanley Bariech while Chemeli by that period was in the department of Tourism, Culture and Social Welfare.”
He stated that the County Executive Committee Member (CEC) in charge of Education and Vocational Training was Stanley Bariech and had refused completely to hand over the report to Valentine Chemeli and the governor was aware.
Mbuvi urged that petitioner (Chemeli) had no information concerning the welfare and operation of the Department of Education and Vocational Training before September 17, 2018 saying it was difficult for her to inform the County Assembly Committee on what she was not aware terming the move as a witch-hunt meant to remove her from the office.
The court heard that the County Assembly Committee released a report on March 31, 2019 recommending Chemeli’s removal from office for mismanagement of Education and Vocational funds.
