Trans Nzoia governor Patrick Khaemba on Thursday launched Elimu bursary where a 100 million shillings was disbursed to all 25 Wards.
The money will benefit needy students in Universities, Secondary Schools and other tertiary colleges. Speaking during the launch in town hall, Khaemba asked Members of the County Assembly to have transparency in the exercise.
Khaemba challenged form four leavers to join Technical Institutes and acquire skills that will enable them get self employed.
He said in the financial year 2018/2019, close to 60,000 students have benefited with 500,000 shillings.
The county assembly education Committee chairperson Simon Makhanu said there is need to have a single graduation day of the all technical students in the county ’’Mr. governor it will sound better if all students graduates ones in a centered place and if possible after completion of their courses be equipped with working tools’’ said Makhanu
Makhanu also challenged Khaemba to complete the two projects that includes Referral Hospital and the modern bus park that have stayed for long.
