The United States has constructed a Central Alarm Station with portable monitors to detect radiological or nuclear materials at the Port of Mombasa.
The US Ambassador to Kenya, Kyle McCarter said on Wednesday that the powerful monitors at the Port will assist in detecting materials or chemicals used in manufacturing weapons of mass destruction and other illicit trade. The US security agency will be working with Kenyan team to improve the security.
McCarter said the special monitors to Kenyan government will help fight terrorism, smuggling of drugs among other illicit trades at the Port of Mombasa. The server at the Central Station will be connected to the 11 radiation portal monitors. He added that all this was happening following the mutual relationship between Kenyan government and the United States.
